A journey through Lebanon’s audiovisual memory.

Described as being “A journey through Lebanon’s audiovisual memory”, Lana Daher’s documentary seeks to collate 70 years of film, television, home videos, and photography in to a living document of a constantly changing country. Lebanon has no national film archive, so Daher’s collage had to be made of whatever pieces of film or video that the people of the country thought were worth preserving, giving the entire film a uniquely fragmented perspective that draws close to the idea of a living memory. The film moves between different times and places to document the ties that hold people together across the gulf of civil wars and racial divides, attempting to reconcile a land and people often defined by their differences.

"It feels less like watching a film and more like being entrusted with something delicate. A work shaped as much by absence as by presence, and all the more powerful because of it." - Karim Nasser, Miya Miya Film Club
